In my book, The Bad Kitty Handbook – A Journey Toward Authentic Female Sensuality, I give a list of the changes that will happen in your life when you truly own your Bad Kitty. Over the next few weeks, we’ll go over some of these in detail.
This week is “A Bad Kitty is someone who – is Unstoppable.”
“I seldom think about my limitations, and they never make me sad. Perhaps there is just a touch of yearning at times; but it is vague, like a breeze among flowers.” Helen Keller
We’ve all had times when we felt unstoppable. We got on a roll with something like losing weight or rising up the corporate ladder or writing that book or exercising or volunteering or any number of things. And then, more often than not, something happens and we feel like we’ve hit a roadblock. Usually we are able to get past it and continue. However, sometimes that can take years and we feel like we’ve failed for that time that we’re stopped.
It’s a nice thought, being unstoppable. Going forward, no matter what. Having the intestinal fortitude to meet every challenge head on and keep going. To be a hero to ourselves and others with our determination.
Cynthia Kersey wrote a book with that precise theme in mind. Unstoppable tells 45 stories about people who proceeded against incredible odds. The one that always stands out in my mind is Dick Hoyt who, as a pudgy sedentary man, came up with a way to honor his severely disabled son Rick’s dream of running marathons by creating a way to carry him and, in triathlons, ride and swim with him to the finish line.
How inspiring! Oh my, I wish I had that much drive to do something that amazing! Well, we all do. Let’s take a look at something you might not expect that could effect your unstoppability – your integrity.
Yes, that’s right, your integrity.
What does that have to do with anything? A lot. You see, when you are out of integrity in any area of your life, it saps your energy. Have you ever noticed that when you have an unresolved conversation in your life, you can’t stop thinking about it? How about when you are doing something, like your job, that doesn’t feed your soul you feel drained? When you haven’t dealt with your finances it seems like there’s always a new fire to put out?
This is a sign of being out of integrity.
Integrity is: 1.adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty. 2. the state of being whole, entire, or undiminished.
In order to be “undiminished” it’s important to find ways to deal with the places you are out of integrity. Instead of talking/whining about it, find ways to deal with it.
There are 6 areas to consider around your integrity:
1. Finances
2. Faith (Whatever you define it to be)
3. Family/Friends
4. Career
5. Health/Fitness
6. Education
On a scale of 1-10, where is your integrity in each of these areas? What do you have to deal with in order to be in your integrity? Do you want to be unstoppable? Do you have things you want to accomplish in your life? Whether big or small, the only way you can move forward on these things consistently is to deal with your integrity.
Before you start beating yourself up about being out of integrity, it happens to us all. It’s all about how quickly you deal with it and get it out of the way.
One of my big struggles is my finances. I keep saying I’m going to make spreadsheets and watch my spending more carefully and I keep finding excuses not to do it. So when my credit card is suddenly over the limit, it takes me by surprise. This is a big anchor to me.
How about we make an agreement together. Over this next week, I’ll work on getting my integrity in line around my finances if you do the same for something that’s been a weight around your neck? Let’s work on cutting the ropes and become unstoppable together.
I’d love to hear about your experience. Please share!
