I am writing this as I revel in one of my biggest dreams coming true – being in Paris! I’ve wanted to visit Paris for as long as I can remember. I even have a theory that I might have lived in Paris in a past life. I’ve always been drawn to anything French (even though I speak the language poorly, I have a good accent). I lived in Montreal for a year in my youth and despite money and language struggles, I was in heaven. I perk up when people say anything about France. I even picked up a portfolio from a table full of books for a photographer at a tradeshow at random that was all about Paris. There was no picture or indication on the front of what the theme was. The desire and connection has always been strong.
FINALLY, after all these years of dreaming, I took steps to make it happen. I looked for deals. I researched hotels. I booked the flights and hotel through Expedia. I counted down the days on my mirror. I started re-familiarizing myself with French. I packed 3 days ahead of time. I’ve never done that! I bought an almost entirely new travel wardrobe. After years of excuses and procrastination, I finally took the steps to experience one of the biggest things on my list.
Still, despite all the planning, one last minute oversight led to a slight postponement. I know I checked. I SWEAR I checked more than once but still I got to the airport only to discover my passport was expired. Tears, anger and adjustments led to some changes, a larger outlay of cash and a departure in yawl days.
Now, croissant in hand, sitting at a cafe looking toward the Eiffel Tower, I can say, DREAMS COME TRUE!
I encourage you to take steps, no matter how small, toward your dreams. It’s only when you take those steps that it will happen. I speak from experience, wishing and hoping doesn’t work! And, I speak from experience, that action DOES work.
There may be challenges along the way – actually there likely will be. Will you give up or maker corrections and continue?
It may take longer than you want, it may happen quickly. Whatever the case, it’s up to YOU to show the Universe that you’re serious about what you want and the pieces will come together.
As I celebrate the fruition of this dream, I look forward to carrying the momentum into many more. I also look forward to celebrating your dreams come true. I’d love you to share a dream that has come true for you. Celebrate and shout it from the rooftops (or the internet)!
